EWB Leadership Program for English Language Teachers
The EWB Leadership Program for English Language Teachers is a five-day training designed to accelerate English teachers’ growth as aware and empowered leaders and form teams who will take on new initiatives and cooperate with the EWB regional representatives in promoting EWB activities at schools and in local communities.
The camp will focus on three key areas:
- Personal leadership: Participants will explore their leadership styles and learn how to be more effective leaders in their personal and professional lives.
- Leadership in the community: Participants will learn how to use their English language skills to make a difference in their communities.
- Leadership for change: Participants will explore the role of English language teachers in creating social change.
Goals
The goals of the EWB Leadership Program for English Language Teachers are to:
- Develop the leadership skills of English language teachers
- Empower participants to be more effective leaders in their personal and professional lives
- Provide participants with the skills and knowledge to use their English language skills to make a difference in their communities
- Inspire participants to become leaders for change
- Maintain and strengthen the EWB network-wide initiatives that deliver collaborative and innovative teacher engagement
- Create a team of four EWB leaders/ambassadors in each of the four regions to hold weekly professional development and capacity-building events and organize annual regional meetings
- Strengthen the community of USG alumni in the regions and develop mentorship programs in each region to engage the alumni in different EWB activities and events and act as mentors to other teachers of English
- Increase communication between and among USG alumni and develop new initiatives to connect USG alumni from a variety of fields with English teachers in each region
Target Audience
The target audience for the EWB Leadership Program for English Language Teachers is English language teachers with more than three (3) years of teaching experience who are interested in developing their leadership skills.
Schedule
The EWB Leadership Program for English Language Teachers will be held over five days. The camp will run from Monday, August 14, to Friday, August 18, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Hotel complex of the National Bank of Tajikistan in Gulistan town, Sughd Region, Tajikistan.
Format
The EWB Leadership Program for English Language Teachers will be a combination of lectures, workshops, and group activities. The camp will also include cultural exchange activities.
Faculty
The faculty for the EWB Leadership Program for English Language Teachers will be a mix of experienced English language teachers and experts in the field of leadership development. The faculty will be selected for their knowledge, experience, and passion for leadership.
Cost
The EWB Leadership Program for English Language Teachers is free. All expenses will be covered by EWB Network, including transportation costs, accommodation in the Hotel complex of the National Bank of Tajikistan in Gulistan town, meals, and learning materials.

- Sessions with EWB regional leaders: These sessions will be held to prepare speakers for the EWB national conference and annual TESOL conference. The speakers will be EWB regional leaders who will share their knowledge and experience with the other attendees.
- Online or in-person events to identify and recruit alumni of the U.S. government (USG) or U.S. Embassy education or exchange programs: These events will be held to identify and recruit USG alumni who are interested in spearheading mentorship, training, professional development, and information-sharing activities in their communities.
- Meetings with English teachers and alumni of the U.S. government (USG) or U.S. Embassy education or exchange programs: These meetings will be held to talk about the success stories of USG alumni. The goal is to inspire English teachers and other stakeholders to continue their work in promoting English language learning.
