Innovative Teacher of the Year Award

The EWB Network, supported by the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan, is proud to announce the Innovative English Teacher of the Year 2025 Award. This annual award honors outstanding English teachers in Tajikistan who demonstrate creativity, dedication, and excellence in teaching.

Award Benefits

The winner will receive:

  1. A smartphone/tablet/laptop
  2. Innovative English Teacher of the Year Award
  3. An invited speaker session at the annual EWB Conference & Expo

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you must:

  1. Be an active EWB Network member
  2. Be an English teacher (at least 50% teaching workload) in a primary/secondary school, university, or private institution in Tajikistan
  3. Have at least 3 years of teaching experience

Application Process (Two Stages)

Stage 1: Online Application Form Submission (Deadline: July 30, 2025)

Please be informed that you will need to upload the following documents to the Online Application Form:

  1. CV/Resume (2 pages maximum)
  2. One Recommendation Letter from your current supervisor

Additionally, the Online Application Form includes 4 short motivational essays:

  1. Your motivation for becoming an English teacher (200 words max)
  2. Your role at school and in your community (300 words max)
  3. A specific lesson plan or project you’ve taught (200 words max)
  4. Your view on excellent teaching (200 words max)

Stage 2: Demo Lesson Video (For shortlisted candidates only)

If selected, you will be asked to submit a video of an innovative demo lesson.

Selection Criteria for the Innovative Teacher of the Year Award

  1. Motivation & Purpose (Shows a clear, meaningful reason for choosing the English teaching profession. Demonstrates passion, commitment, or personal connection to education. Reflects a desire to make a positive difference in students’ lives.)
  2. Leadership & Community Involvement (Actively contributes to school life through leadership, mentorship, or student support. Engages in community service or educational outreach. Builds partnerships and collaborates with others to benefit students or the school.)
  3. Innovation in Teaching (Demonstrates creativity in designing lesson plans or projects. Uses student-centered, engaging strategies that encourage learning and motivation. Applies effective evaluation techniques. Shows that innovation is part of their ongoing teaching style, not just one-time efforts.)
  4. Teaching Philosophy & Reflection (Articulates a clear, thoughtful vision of what makes teaching excellent. Reflects on how their philosophy connects to their local teaching context and student needs. Shows deep understanding of the teacher’s role in learning and student development.)
