The EWB Master Workshops & Training of Trainers (ToT) Program is a professional development opportunity designed to help English language teachers in Tajikistan become confident trainers, mentors, and community leaders. This initiative combines two of EWB’s programs — the EWB Master Workshops Mini-Grant and the EWB Training of Trainers (ToT) — into one integrated pathway that equips educators to create meaningful and lasting professional development experiences in their communities.
Program Overview
The program consists of three interconnected phases, ensuring that every participant is trained, supported, and mentored throughout their journey.
Phase 1: Training of Trainers (ToT)
Selected participants will begin with an intensive in-person training in Dushanbe focused on:
- Fundamentals of adult learning (andragogy)
- Trainer and facilitation skills
- Workshop design and delivery
- EWB quality standards for master workshops
This phase prepares teachers to confidently design and deliver professional development workshops for their peers.
Phase 2: Master Workshop Implementation
After completing the ToT, each participant is eligible to receive up to $500 in funding to design and lead a 4-day master workshop for 15-25 English teachers in their local area.
Through this experience, participants will apply what they learned, share their expertise, and contribute to building stronger teaching communities.
Phase 3: Post-Workshop Mentorship
Each trainer will provide at least two months of follow-up mentorship, including:
- School visits and classroom observations
- Guidance and feedback for workshop participants
- Encouragement for active engagement in the EWB Network
This ongoing support ensures that the learning continues and leads to real classroom impact.
Key Skills You Will Gain
By joining the EWB Master Workshops & Training of Trainers (ToT) Program, participants will strengthen three essential professional skills:
- Essential training & facilitation techniques – learn and practice key methods for delivering engaging and effective training sessions.
- Leadership & community engagement basics – explore practical ways to motivate peers, foster collaboration, and build supportive learning communities.
- Introduction to planning & managing professional development activities – gain foundational skills in organizing, coordinating, and reflecting on teacher development events.
