The EWB Master Workshops & Training of Trainers (ToT) Program
A Strategic Initiative to Strengthen Professional Development in Tajikistan
The English Without Borders (EWB) Network is pleased to announce a new integrated professional development opportunity for English language teachers in Tajikistan: the EWB Master Workshops & Training of Trainers (ToT) Program.
This initiative unites two of our programs, the EWB Master Workshops Grant and EWB Training of Trainers (ToT), to ensure that teachers who lead professional development workshops in their regions are well-prepared, supported, and equipped to create a lasting impact.
What Is the Program About?
The EWB Master Workshops Grant provides funding of up to $500 for qualified English teachers to design and conduct professional development workshops for their peers. These workshops aim to:
- Improve classroom teaching methodologies
- Enhance student learning outcomes
- Strengthen the professional community of English teachers in Tajikistan
This new model introduces a three-step approach:
1. Training of Trainers (ToT):
Before receiving funding, all selected applicants will take part in a 5-day intensive ToT program, where they will learn:
- Fundamentals of adult learning (andragogy)
- Trainer and facilitator skills
- Workshop design and delivery
- Assessment and reflection tools
- EWB standards for master workshops
2. Master Workshop Implementation:
Upon successful completion of the ToT, each participant will receive up to $500 to deliver a 4-day master workshop for 15–25 English teachers in their local area.
3. Post-Workshop Mentorship:
Trainers will also commit to at least two months of follow-up, including:
- School visits to observe participants implementing strategies
- Ongoing mentorship and feedback
- Encouraging participants to actively engage in the EWB Network
This three-phase structure ensures that every EWB master workshop is well-planned, skillfully delivered, and followed by sustained mentorship, leading to deeper impact and stronger professional communities.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
This opportunity is open to:
- Active EWB members & EWB Novice Trainers
- English language teachers currently working in Tajikistan (public schools, private institutions, universities)
- Teachers with a minimum of 5 years of classroom experience
- Educators with prior teacher training experience (including TSSET National Trainers and Regional Peer Mentors, ETM Program alumni, and other alumni of the U.S.-funded programs for teacher trainers)
